Tryout Information for Berkshire Baseball Players

We are Berks County’s original and premier tournament travel baseball organization and we’re currently seeking quality players who also have a high standard of character for the 2010 fall baseball season to help our program uphold its “Tradition of Excellence” that we have established since 1989.

Their are several ways to tryout and get involved in the Berkshire Baseball Club. You can participate in our 10 week winter workout program or attend one of our three open tryouts that are scheduled for 2010.

Commonly Asked Questions

As a returning player, do I have to tryout again for the next season?

As a returning player, you must participate in our winter workout program in order for you to secure your roster spot for the following season and you can immediately participate in all fundraising activities to help offset the cost of the program. If you choose to not participate in our winter workout program, you will be treated as a new player and will have to attend one of our scheduled tryouts. You would not be able to participate in any fundraising activities until you are selected to play on one of our teams.

Do you have to participate in the winter clinic to play on one of your fall teams?

No. The winter clinic is a seperate program. However, by participating in the winter clinic, you could have an invitation extended to participate in one of our fall programs sooner, therefore giving you more opportunites to offset the program cost through fundraising.

What all is included in the program registration fee?

All travel and lodging is included in the program registration fee. Although actual items can vary by program, each player can receive a hat, helmet, T-shirts, jacket, spikes and bag.

Is their a way to help offset the registration fee?

Yes. As a non-profit organization, we can offer several fundraisers that can help offset the cost of the registration fee.

When does the season start?

Our season starts in August and will run through the end of October.

How many games do you play?

We normally play between 40 and 50 games a season.

Which tryout date should I attend?

We suggest that you tryout for our teams as early as possible for two reasons. The first is because we will make our player selections after each tryout, therefore, there will be fewer spots available on each roster as we get closer to the start of our season. The second reason is because the sooner that you are selected, the more opportunities you will have to participate in our fundraising activities which can help offset your cost.

If I cannot attend any of the scheduled tryouts, is there still a way that I could be selected to play?

In the event that you cannot attend any of the scheduled tryouts, you would have to contact our organization and make arrangements to have one of our coaches come out and see you play in either one of your Spring or Summer programs games. We again stress the importance of making these arrangements early in the selection process.
